This past weekend was probably one of the best weekends I have had in a while. It was a much needed break away from the chaos that was cluttering my mind. I had such a long week that I was not sure if I wanted to drive 5 hours to visit my eldest sister in Los Angeles. I somehow picked up the strength and got on the road with my older sister. What is funny is that we took my car yet I did not drive. I asked my older sister to drive because I am not fond of long distance driving. We had already planned what we wanted to do in LA throughout the week but we did not actually think we were going to do it all. We wanted to try new places because we always follow the same routine, when we spend the weekend in LA. I am not going to lie; we did follow our routine but we pretty much tried all the new places we planned on trying. A must, when in LA, is going to Thai Victory. I seriously do not care for Thai food but, HOLY MOLY; I love the food at Thai Victory. I was a little iffy at first because it is sort of a hole in the wall type restaurant and Thai food is not typically comfort food for me, but I fell in love after my first bite. Yelp helped us find this place and I have never been so thankful for Yelp reviews. Not only is the food amazing but the customer service is off the charts; they are uberly adorable and nice.
After getting our Thai fix, we made our way to Beverly Hills, taking the scenic route. The Los Angeles weather was on point; it was neither too hot nor cold. Personally, it was perfect weather. Our first stop was at the Sprinkles Ice Cream Shop. It definitely lived up to its hype. I ordered coffee fudge almond ice cream with a dark chocolate cupcake sundae. After murdering our sundaes, we stopped by Kreation Organic which is located a couple stores down from the Sprinkles shop. Kreation Organic is an organic juice shop where they sell organic daily pressed juices. We got to tell them exactly what we wanted in our juices and they did not disappoint; kale, spinach, cucumber, ginger and lemon juice is no joke. It was refreshing, especially after being out for awhile in the Los Angeles heat.
Shopping is so irrelevant NOWADAYS; when I go into stores, I never see anything I really like. It feels like the old me is dead and gone (Fact: I just quoted TI). I did pick up a few facial serums from The Body Shop. It was pretty pricey but I got the buy 2 get 1 free deal when I spun the Lucky Deal Wheel they had in front of their store. The worker was being a sweetheart and gave me the buy 2 get 2 free deal (#thecomeup). For supper, we went to the Boiling Point where they serve different types of hotpot. We all ordered the Taiwanese hotpot because it looked mouthwatering on our menu and it tasted exactly how we thought it was going to taste when it came out. Later at night, we went to the Black Market to have some drinks and a late dinner. The food was amazing. I forgot exactly what we ordered because the alcohol clouded my memory a little. I do remember that their mussels were aaaaaaa-mazing! Lucky for me, I took loads of pictures.
The following day we went to Aroma Coffee and Tea Co. for breakfast. It was probably the best breakfast ever. I usually just get a fruit salad and a latte for breakfast, but this past weekend I wanted to try something new. I got the country breakfast with a latte and I murdered it! It came with 3 pancakes with fruits, 3 eggs and 2 chicken sausages. My older sister got a jerk chicken salad and it was good minus the chicken; I think it was a little too sweet for our taste.
We decided to try MILK because the hype was real. My older sister ordered a salted caramel macaroon ice cream sandwich because she is obsessed with anything salted caramel. I ordered the mint dark chocolate chip macaroon ice cream sandwich. I am drooling thinking about it right now. The fact that I told my sister that I did not want to order a macaroon ice cream sandwich because I do not like macaroons to begin with. after 5 whole minutes of concentration, I decided to order it because YOLO. I am really happy that I did because it was just scrumptious! Before leaving LA, we wanted to catch an early dinner with my eldest sister. We decided on ramen at Jinya Ramen Bar because I have never had ramen at the restaurants before. It was okay, definitely not my cuppa. All in all, I had such an amazing weekend. :3
